Creator Links Installation Guide
Requirements
Creator Links let you create branded short redirect URLs for your affiliate and non-affiliate links, with UTM tracking built in. They’re especially useful for social media posts, YouTube videos, X, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, link in bio tools and more! So you can see exactly how many clicks and conversions each individual post generates.
Step 1: Activate the Creator Links feature
Creator Links is a feature that needs to be switched on before you can use it.
- Go to Features
- Find the Creator Links card and turn on the toggle
Â
If you try to open Creator Links before activating it, you’ll see a “Feature Not Activated” message instead, with a shortcut button back to the Features page.
Step 2: Create your first Creator Link
- Go to Tools > Creator Links
- Click + Create Creator Link
- Paste your Destination URL, this should be your current affiliate link
- Add a Name / Label for your own reference (this isn’t shown publicly)
- Set the Slug, this becomes part of your final short URL. Only letters, numbers, dashes and underscores are allowed, or click “Random” to generate one
- Choose the Domain you want the link to use
Step 3: Add UTM parameters (optional, but recommended)
You can add UTM Parameters to each creator link. This is what lets you tell posts and platforms apart in your reports later, for example, tagging a link placed in your Instagram bio differently from the same offer shared in a YouTube description.
- Source: where you’re posting it, e.g. instagrambio
- Medium: the general channel type, e.g. social
- Campaign: the promotion or theme, e.g. summer-sale
- Content: the specific placement, e.g. linkinbio
- Term: any extra detail you want to track, e.g. air-max
Click Create once you’re happy with it.
Â
Step 4: Use and manage your Creator Links
Your new Creator Link now appears in your Creator Links list, alongside its short Creator URL, the destination it points to, click count and a status toggle.
- Copy the Creator URL and use it wherever you’d normally share the link, a video description, your bio, a social post, and so on
- Use the Status toggle to activate or deactivate a link at any time, without deleting it
- Use the Actions column to edit or delete a link
Â
That’s it! From here, wecantrack tracks every click on the Creator Link, and if it points to a connected affiliate offer, matches conversions back to it too, so you can see clicks, conversions and commission per individual post/link inside your wecantrack reports.
