Anomalies Notification Setup
Requirements
- Configure intelligent alerts that notify you when performance metrics or transactions show unusual deviations. You can also find a specific use case (30% Decline Rate Increase Notification) below the general installation guide.
How to properly setup anomaly notifications?
In your wecantrack account, you have the option to setup anomaly notifications which inform you when unusual deviations from your current performance occur. These notifications can be set based on several metrics and grouped by different data groups.Â
2. Time Window
In this section you can define the rules for your time periods for comparison.
- First select the length of the current evaluation window (e.g., last 7 days).
- Select the baseline period to compare against (e.g., previous 7 days).
- If relevant set Analysis Offset to shift the analysis backwards in time. Set to 60 to analyze what happened 60 days ago. Leave at 0 for real-time analysis.
- Click ‘Next’
3. Alert Conditions
In this section you can set the threshold that will trigger an alert.
- Select how to measure change: percent (%), percentage points (pp), amount (currency), or count.
- Select your trigger condition for alert (e.g., less than or equal to).
- Input your Threshold (%) for percent change (e.g., -30 for -30%)
5. Filters (Optional)
Narrow down which data to monitor and alert on:
In this section you can filter to only alert or never alert for specific advertisers, networks, network accounts or status.
Tip: Leave all filters empty to monitor all data. Use include/exclude filters to focus on specific segments.
Anomaly Events Log
After your notifications are setup, you can view all active ones in the ‘Notifications’ Tab. Additionally, the ‘Events’ tab will provide you with an overview of the recent detections for your notifications.
You have the option to mark them as ‘Resolved’ in case you’ve viewed/taken action on that specific notification already.
Â
Use Case: 30% Decline Rate Increase Notification (60 Days Window)
Sudden spikes in decline rates can indicate issues with your partnerships, fraud patterns, or changes in customer behavior. This notification helps you catch significant deviations early.
In this example, we’ll set up an alert that notifies you when your decline rate increases by 30% or more compared to the same period 60 days ago. This gives you enough historical context to distinguish real anomalies from normal fluctuations.
What this notification does:
- Compares your current 60-day decline rate against the decline rate from 60 days prior
- Triggers only when you have at least 100 non-pending transactions (avoiding false alerts from low volumes)
- Includes a 1-week cooldown period (168 hours) so you’re notified once per week maximum.
